Is "Romantic Marriage" really a good fit for what I'm doing here? Is the title just too sappy to be taken seriously?
Sure, I like to write about romance, date nights, and lighthearted fun. But I also talk about the serious issues that can destroy relationships, and how to avoid or resolve them. I want to help couples with ordinary marriages make them great, and couples with great marriages to keep them that way. One of my goals here is to promote marriage education based on solid research and practical advice.
What do you think? Should I change the name? And if I do, what would be a better fit? So far, all I've come up with is Two the Hard Way. It makes me smile, but it might not be quite the message I'm looking for.
Ok, a few (weird) ideas:
ReplyDelete1. The Marriage Factory
2. School of Marriage
3. School of Modern Marriage
4. Marriage for Dummies
5. A Table for Two
6. The Power of Two
7. Two Plus Zero Equals Zero
8. Too Much for Two
Or Romantic Marriage is beginning to look better with each keystroke?
CJ, I can't help but like The Marriage Factory. I picture it as a dramedy on HBO or FX, conceptually like the Love Boat, but much grittier and set in a working class neighborhood in Detroit. Guest stars would include Timothy Olyphant, Glenn Close, Danny DeVito, Kathy Bates, and the entire cast of Drunk History. (I probably need to work on my pitch.)
DeleteNow that's for real, Rosemary! Grit is all the rage these days, so ya can't go wrong there. I'd say you're welcome, but I lets us see how it all shakes out;) Have a Bananarama Day!
DeleteHello Rosemary! For some reason, I'm not getting your new posts. I'm glad Sir Jolly pointed out your new post to me!
ReplyDeleteWhile you are Rosemary of Romantic Marriage, I do see your point about your goal and how it might be overlooked as a research-based site. Two the Hard Way doesn't seem like you since you make it look easy! Just my thoughts...
One can hardly take us seriously with a blog name like ours, but I will just see if I can come up with anything that might be of some use (if for nothing else a sitcom).
Marriage Matters
Marrying for Good
TWOgether ForEVER (or something like that...)
I Do Means You Two
Ok, I'm sure as it gets later, they will get worse! ;)
I love you putting it out there to let your readers share their thoughts! This is very exciting!
Two Becoming One?!
ReplyDeleteTwo Plus God= Marriage

When the Marriage Boat Is Leaking
Yup, I would change it. What you are talking about is far more than just romance.
ReplyDeleteIf you could say something to a married couple in a few sentences, what would you say? Use that to help you frame a new title
